Specifically formulated to support the oral care needs of expectant and breastfeeding mothers, the Pregnancy Paste addresses common oral health concerns unique to women during and immediately after pregnancy.

Our oral health is continually evolving depending on our age, lifestyles and wider wellbeing. However, some of the biggest changes are seen during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is because many soft tissues in the mouth undergo certain changes due to increased oestrogen and progesterone levels. While this has many benefits to the body, this hormonal change can increase sensitivity and irritation to gums.

In addition, many expectant mothers experience concerns such as vomiting, heartburn and acid reflux which can cause tooth enamel to erode. Overtime this can result in loss of enamel and thinning of your teeth.

The pregnancy paste is uniquely formulated to counteract these needs and also improve wellbeing during pregnancy. Packed full of clinically active ingredients The Pregnancy Toothpaste maintains oral health throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding while preventing erosion and decay.

Key Ingredients include:

  • Sodium Fluoride
Fluoride works by strengthening the tooth enamel and preventing future cavities.
  • Folic Acid
Folic Acid is important during pregnancy as it helps form the neural tube, preventing major birth defects of the baby’s brain (anencephaly) and spine (spina bifida). There are also studies that show that folic acid in toothpaste can reduce gum inflammation – gum inflammation is common during pregnancy.
  • Hydroxyapatite
Your enamel is made from this. therefore using it in your paste helps reduce erosion due to indigestion and vomiting which is common during pregnancy
  • Cyanocobalamin
Vitamin B12 which is vital during pregnancy – your mouth is 50x more absorbent than your skin. The Pregnancy Toothpaste is available in a mild mint flavour. As with all Spotlight Oral Care toothpastes the formulation is vegan, cruelty free and comes 100% recyclable sugarcane tube. Dr. Lisa & Dr. Vanessa’s Tips for Oral Care during Pregnancy:
  • Brush teeth and gums twice a day with a clean, clinically proven formula to protect mother and baby’s oral and overall health
  • Use a Sonic Toothbrush throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding to ensure teeth and gums receive the best clean possible
  • If you experience morning sickness, wait at least 1 hour before brushing your teeth to prevent enamel erosion
  • We recommend seeing your hygienist every 3 months throughout pregnancy to maintain oral health
